Peter Baptist, born in 1948 in Bad Kissingen, studied mathematics and physics – diploma in mathematics, PhD and qualification as a university professor at Würzburg University. He worked as a teacher at a Gymnasium in Bayreuth and at a comprehensive school in Hollfeld. He got professorships at Erlangen University and at the Technical University Dresden. Since 1994 he has held the chair of mathematics and mathematics education at Bayreuth University. Research activities: Optimization Theory, Elementary Geometry, History of Mathematics, Teaching and Learning of Mathematics, Development of Dynamic Worksheets and Learning Environments, Dynamic Mathematics GEONExT.
